Welcome to the Whistle Stop's on-line store; an extension of our full-service quilt shop conveniently located less than 1 mile off I-95, Exit 98.
Regular Retail Hours Monday - Saturday, 10:00 - 4:30 Closed Wednesdays. Open the 1st Sunday of every month, 1:00 - 4:00 For holiday hours it is best to call ahead.
Opened in November, 2001, the shop has been not only my biggest challenge but my greatest joy. When people say that "...quilters are the nicest people..." they aren't kidding. This shop has brought people into my life that have redefined what a blessing is and what it means to give and to receive. I have been blessed with the kindness of strangers, stories that have made me cry and tales that have made me laugh until my belly ached. And so, even though we've had our share of ups and downs, it's been my privilege to share my love of quilting with my friends and a few strangers.
To those of you that are too far away for a personal visit, you should know that you are and will be as special to me as the quilters that pass through our doors. This little thing we do - quilting - is not just a hobby or a job (in my case) but a shared passion for things that are beautiful, crafted-by-hand and stitched with love.
With the opening of our on-line store I am looking forward to meeting even more of you and sharing our mutual love for quilts! As you shop, keep in mind that we are a full-service retail quilt shop (maybe just not as big on-line) so we might have what you're looking for in-house. I also take all my own pictures for the catalog so if you see something in a photo, chances are we have the kit, pattern or book on-hand. Always feel free to contact me and I'll do my best to help you find what you are looking for.
In the meantime, if you're ever traveling I-95 through North Carolina and have a little extra time to stop in for a visit, please do. The shop is located in Selma, NC. Selma is a quaint, rural community built up around the cotton, tobacco and railroad industries in the early 1900s. Our downtown district resembles Mayberry - a 1940s style downtown (think small-town charm). In town you will find several antique shops, The Depot (our fully renovated and operational museum-type train station), the Whistle Stop and more - all within walking distance! And when you arrive, you'll probably find me with a coffee cup in one hand (I'm a caffeine junkie), my rotary cutter in the other and a smile to greet you because I am truly grateful for the visitors we receive!
